About V.O.F
PHILOSOPHY
In the first half of the twentieth century the fashion illustrator Marcel Vertès wrote: “Time was when dresses were like monuments, made from precious materials brought from distant lands. They were put together one after the other constructed as an architect constructs a house, slowly and with infinite care. Not merely to dazzle the eye they were meant to outlast the generation which conceived them.” Since the demise of haute couture in the late 1950s and early 196os, fashion has been more democratic, in theory available to everyone, easily accessible, and competitively priced. Yet if clothes aim for the middle ground, they will never satisfy all our demands on them. A timeless fashion never looks old but it also never looks new. How can we laugh at ourselves, poke fun at each other, and fulfill our craving for novelty and change if fashion remains more or less the same? In recent years, we have enjoyed the fruits of easily available ready-to-wear-the same clothes can be found in stores from Liverpool to Austin, Texas but we yearn for something more. We want clothes that speak of the future or tell of the past, clothes that give us the chance to wear something we might have missed and clothes that reflect many mirrored messages. Fashion is the embodiment of all these things.
citing THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF FASHON/1986 – Georgina O’Hara
Fashion is a mirror of the people and the times
Fashion constantly changes its form in response to changes in people and times
As the identity of the wearer and the mood of the times change, so do the clothes.
We want to be a company that “accompanies” such changes in fashion.
However, in today’s environmentally conscious society, the idea of clothing being merely consumed is being rejected,
We are required to be a vessel that “accepts” the changes of fashion.
V.O.F has developed “V.O.F ARCHIVE” as such vessels.
We take care of clothes that are no longer worn, and help pass on the beauty of the marks that appear on them as they are worn, the designer’s thoughts and the context of the garment, and pass them on to the next owner.
To ensure that fashion retains its value and plays a role in a sustainable consumer society,
To be in tune with and to embrace change.
This is the philosophy of V.O.F.

We operate three select shops: “CONTEXT TOKYO” in Omotesando, Tokyo, “OTSUKEI” in Kawaramachi, Kyoto, and “kune” in Hanamaki, Iwate.
Each store is designed to reflect the culture of its city and carries its own concept.
The collections feature carefully selected garments, chosen from each store’s unique perspective.
